FIS Alpine World Cup Ski Racing – The prestige and excitement of World Cup ski racing
returns to Aspen when the World's Fastest Women compete in the Downhill, Giant Slalom
and Slalom on legendary Aspen Mountain. Join us for Aspen/Snowmass opening
weekend featuring, stadium seating, prize giveaways, après ski street party, live music
and entertainment, awards ceremony, racer autograph signing, Budweiser Hi-Fi Concert,
fireworks extravaganza, "Dine Around the World" - Aspen's top restaurants offering great
food and drink specials.
Winterskol - Aspen's annual toast to winter, celebrates its 55th anniversary. From a wild
and wacky Canine Fashion Show to the infamous Snowmass Splash, Wintersköl sums
up the character of Aspen. Wintersköl features more than 40 events in downtown Aspen
and at all four ski areas: Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass
Mountain. Favorites include the Fashion Show, the Buttermilk Uphill Race, Wintersculpt,
and a spectacular torchlight descent and fireworks over Aspen Mountain.There are always
a few surprises, too. Wintersköl dates back to a quiet January in 1951 when local
Aspenites decided to celebrate Aspen's unique Nordic lifestyle with an eclectic weekend
of festivities - mostly floorshows at local taverns. As Aspen has grown and evolved into a
world-class resort, Wintersköl has matured into an elaborate, well-organized event with
major corporate sponsors and international talent. But the celebration retains its purpose
as a week of fun in the snow for residents and visitors.
Aspen Gay ski Week - Come to Aspen/Snowmass for a fun filled week of events to
celebrate Gay & Lesbian Ski Week. It is a full week of skiing and snowboarding on four of
Colorado's superb mountains. Not to mention all the events that are in store when you
arrive such as, daily apres-ski parties, fabulous nighttime events with world class DJ's,
Downhill Costume Competition, Comedy Night, a Film Fest and much more.
X-Games - "ESPN today announces that Winter X Games will return to Aspen/Snowmass,
Colorado for an unprecedented sixth year. The event is scheduled for January 24-28. The
annual Winter X Games is the premier winter action sports event in the world, featuring
athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money in the following
sports: Moto X, Ski, Snowboard and Snowmobile. Winter X Games IX will feature nighttime
events and will be telecast live on ESPN and ABC. Announced earlier this year, Winter X
Games will remain in Aspen/Snowmass through 2010.
