Calendar of Events - Winter
HOLIPALOOZA - Combining the energy of the Chevy Trucks U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix
with Breckenridge’s Victorian holiday charm, Holipalooza kicks off winter with a non-
stop line up of competition, celebration, shopping and great early-season conditions.
Be a part of town magic at the Lighting of Breckenridge, then head to the slopes on
Peak 8 for the mountain’s first major snowboard event of the season, the Chevy Trucks
U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix. Join the excitement as the Hartford Ski Spectacular returns
for another season of action-packed racing on Peak 9. Whether you come to compete,
ride or just hang out, kick off the season at Holipalooza in Breckenridge, your home for
the holidays!

HARTFORD SKI SPECTACULAR - The Hartford Ski Spectacular is the nation’s largest
winter sports festival for people with physical disabilities. The weeklong event, now in
its 17th year, includes learn-to-ski and race programs, youth development camps,
sanctioned USSA races and a celebrity fun race.The event is sponsored by leading
disability insurer, The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., and is conducted by
Disabled Sports USA (DS/USA), a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee.

CHEVY TRUCKS US SNOWBOARD GRAND PRIX  - The world’s finest athletes descend
on Breckenridge for the second stop of this USSA sanctioned snowboard series. The
Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious snowboard circuits in the world. This
spectacular snowboarding event includes a SuperPipe competition and a parallel
Giant Slalom competition, as well as a night exhibition TBA. Expect incredible on-hill
performances, and after-hours entertainment to match the magnitude of this world-
class competition.

NEW YEAR’S EVE TORCH LIGHT PARADE - Celebrate the New Year Breckenridge style!
At 6:00 PM, skiers and boarders kick off the evening with a dazzling luminary, parading
from the top of Peak 9 down American to The Village at Breckenridge. At 9:00 PM, watch
a brilliant fireworks display from any downtown Breckenridge location! Don't miss this
glittering New Year’s show, presented by Garden State Fireworks and the Town of
Breckenridge.

ULLR FEST - This long-standing event pays homage to the mythical Norse God of
Snow. A week-long schedule of events range from the Ullympics to the Ullr Bonfire to
the famous (and unofficial world’s craziest) Ullr Fest Parade down Main Street. Come
participate for the 42nd year celebration and see how the locals really celebrate.

WOMEN'S WINTER WEEK - Breckenridge introduces its first annual Women’s Winter
Week. Things get rolling with LUNAFEST, a national festival of films by, for or about
women (www.lunabar.com/lunafest/). Following LUNAFEST, women of all ages can
participate in female-specific equipment demos, women’s camps and clinics in alpine
in-bounds and backcountry skiing, as well as healing components at Breckenridge's
new healing center, Sacred Tree. Stay tuned for special lift ticket and/or ski school
deals available for “Take Your Daughter to the Snow Week”, occurring in conjunction

INTERNATIONAL SNOW SCULPTURE CHAMPIONSHIPS - Fourteen teams from around
the world compete in this eye-pleasing event, creating mammoth works of art from 12-
feet-tall, 20-ton blocks of snow. The sculptors work during the week, reshaping the
bounty of Mother Nature into freeform whimsy or spellbinding intricacy. Well-known
artists act as judges for the event, which has brought sculptors from as far away as
Morocco, Belize, Japan, Canada, Scandinavia, Russia, China and Wales.

SNOWBOARD OUTREACH SERIES - After a successful fifth season, this amateur series
returns to Breckenridge. Snowboarders and skiers of all ages and abilities are
welcome to participate in Slopestyle (Feb. 26) and Halfpipe (Feb. 27) competitions
benefiting the Snowboard Outreach Society.

SNOWACTIVE KID'S WEEKEND - The SnowActive Kid’s Weekend is full of FREE "fun-
tastic" snow adventures catering to guests tall and small including interactive
escapades that will make for a family affair you won't forget! Special weekend activities
include a Cocoa & Cookies Concert, Interactive Kid's Village at the base of Peak 8, Mini
Snow Sculpting Challenge, "Egg"cellent Easter Egg Hunt at the Kid’s Tent, Easter
brunch on the mountain and much more.

SNOWBASH CELEBRITY SKI RACE - Ski teams comprised of celebrities, disabled
skiers, disadvantaged youth and sponsors will challenge each other on the slopes of
Breckenridge. Festivities include parties, receptions and the Celebrity Race on Peak 9.
SnowBash is an event partnership between the Breckenridge Outdoor Education
Center (BOEC) and the Colorado Avalanche Community Fund, a fund of the Robert R.
McCormick Tribune Foundation. The Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC)
is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people of all abilities through
high quality outdoor experiences.
