Resort Description:
Winter Park is one of the closest ski resorts to Denver and has long boasted of a reputation as the favorite
ski area in Colorado. It is understandable that all those lucky locals who have the best skiing on earth at
their doorstep appreciate a ski area with grandiose and varied terrain, the constant upgrades to lifts and
the variety of day lodge facilities, consistantly good snow, exceptional children's and beginner facilities and
moderate prices.
Locals don't mind the absence of a tightly knit resort center such as Aspen, Vail or Breckenridge or the
virtual absence of ski-in, ski-out lodging, but that's about to change. The skiing ranges across three main
peaks, Winter Park, Mary Jane and Vazquez Ridge - topped by a vast snowfield called Parsenn Bowl.
Behind Parsenn is Vasquez Cirque, 435 high-expert acres. Winter Park also is home to the world's finest
programme for teaching the disabled to ski.
What's new: Winter Park, just like Copper Mountain, is remaking its base into a convenient, contemporary
village. Newly built is the Zephyr Lodge, a $ 70 million mixed lodging and commercial development that is
the cornerstone of the new Winter Park Resort Village. On the mountain the Eskimo Express, a high-speed
quad, has replaced the old Eskimo double chairlift. There has been over $8 million in recent upgrades to
the lift system and there is now 8 high speed quad chairs.
In the summer months there is a variety of things to see and do, which makes this a great year round
resort.
