X Games in Aspen

ESPN Winter X Games return to Aspen/Snowmass for an unprecedented ninth year from Thursday, January 28 through Sunday, January 31, 2010! All events are free and open to the public.

The annual Winter X Games is the premier winter action sports event in the world, featuring athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money in the following sports: Ski, Snowboard and Snowmobile. Winter X Games 14 will feature nighttime events and will be telecast live on ESPN and ABC.

Some of Hollywood's top stars will gather in Banff and at Sunshine Village Jan. 14-17, 2010, to help protect North America's waterways.

US Snowboarding Grand Prix

January 20, 2010 - January 23, 2010

The historic pipe where US athletes swept the men's podium and won gold in the women's event during the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002 will entertain the masses with Olympians again. The Grand Prix tour makes its final stop at Park City Mountain Resort for back to back night competitions, after which the winners will be crowned and the 2010 Olympic halfpipe team will be named.

USASA Southwest Series Superpipe at Crested Butte

Come bear witness to some of the region’s most talented young rippers as they compete to earn their spot at the 2010 USASA National Championships. If the spirit of competition moves you, join in for $25 per event. Competitor lift tickets run $30 a day. Family tickets run $45 a day. We run 2 events per day for Alpine events. The Volcom Stone Peanut Butter and Rail Jam Series at Sierra-at-Tahoe

The Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam series for amateur snowboarders returns for another 17-stop North American tour, and it will drop in on Sierra-at-Tahoe on Jan. 2. The PB&RJ series is cool in two ways: Theres no cost (other than lift ticket, of course) to enter the competition, which will be separated into four divisions -- 15 and under and 16 and over, girls and open -- and there will be a bunch of swag (i.e., free prizes and food.) so that everyone who enters walks away with something. Ski and snowboard volunteers sought for Forest Service tours

The U.S. Forest Service is seeking ski and snowboard volunteers to lead guided tours at Heavenly Mountain Resort one day a week for its “Ski with a Ranger” program.

Volunteers will be provided with a thorough orientation and a day pass for the day of each tour. The expected time commitment will be four to six hours a week, January through April, depending upon a volunteer's availability.

All volunteers are required to attend the program orientation Jan. 11.

Santa spotted skiing in Aspen and Snowmass!!

The next storm is looming, and could be descending upon Aspen/Snowmass anytime. In the meantime, there were some early sightings of Santa today out on the slopes, enjoying the powder and entertaining the kids. All four mountains are open, including Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk.
