New Quicksilver Gondola opens to connect Park City and Canyons ski resorts

Last Friday saw the new Quicksilver Gondola officially open and connect the Utah ski resorts of Park City and Canyons.

The lift means the two now form the largest ski resort in the States with over 300 trails, 41 lifts and 7300 acres of skiable terrain.

'One of the most ambitious projects undertaken at any ski resort'

Rob Katz, chairman and CEO of Vail Resorts joined leaders from the local community as well as resort guests for a ceremony that included ribbon-cutting and a ‘champagne smash’ in front of the new Quicksilver lift.

The opening of the Quicksilver Gondola connects the two mountains and the new Miners Camp restaurant and was described by Katz as ‘one of the most ambitious capital projects undertaken at any resort in industry history’.

A $50 million project

Construction began in the summer of 2015. Now, 18 months later, it’s just a short 8 minute ride to connect guests with hundreds of trails across Park City and Canyons Village

Bill Rock, chief operating officer of Park City, said “Quicksilver, Miners Camp and the $50 million in improvements across the resort will completely transform the guest experience at Park City.”

New mountain restaurant

The Miners Camp restaurant is located at the base of the Silverlode Lift, and replaces the old Snow Hut. The new on-mountain restaurant features 500 indoor seats and a fresh menu with local ingredients, daily specials, handmade flatbread pizzas, Mediterranean dishes and local drafts on tap.

In addition to Quicksilver and Miners Camp, guests will also find additional snowmaking across the resort, two new trails off of Pinecone Ridge and major upgrades to the King Con and Motherlode lifts.
