Revelstoke

Glacier National Park, just east of Revelstoke, is considered the birthplace of mountaineering in North America, drawing climbers since the late 1800s.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort is located on Mount Mackenzie 3.5 miles (6 kilometres) southeast of downtown Revelstoke. Skiers and boarders can enjoy a 5,620 vertical-foot descent (1,713 metres), the highest in North America. With the acquisition of Selkirk Tangiers Helicopter Skiing and CAT Powder Skiing, Revelstoke Mountain Resort is a one-of-a-kind ski experience with the choice of helicopter, snowcat or lift skiing every day from the base of the resort.

A historical average of 40 to 60 feet of snow annually (12 to 18 metres) falls in the Selkirk Mountains, which is more than twice what Whistler/Blackcomb receives in an average season.

The ski mountain offers a broad range of runs. A natural plateau located conveniently at the top of the gondola has been designated as a novice learning area, offering an alpine experience and spectacular views not normally available to beginners.

Lodging choices range from ski-in, ski-out lodges at the base of the mountain to more traditional lodging in the historical town of Revelstoke.
