Vail’s Back Bowls Open in Time for Thanksgiving Day

The opening of Vail’s legendary Back Bowls means that ski season is officially in full swing.

Vail Resort is one of the largest ski resorts in the world with more than 5200 acres of skiable terrain, seven legendary Back Bowls spanning seven miles, and the most groomed terrain on the planet.

Home to world class athletes...and you!

Vail has been a great winter vacation destination for passionate skiers and snowboarders for more than 50 years.

The resort is home to world-class athletes: the USA Alpine Ski Team were seen in early-season training at Golden Peak, plus the resort will feature both the Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships and the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships

Six feet of snow already

The High Noon Express opened yesterday, giving access to the Sun Up and Sun down bowls.  With 30 inches (75cm) of snow over the last four days and more than six feet in the last three weeks, conditions are looking great on the mountain.

The next area scheduled to be opened is China Bowl, which may well happen this weekend. The resort anticipates opening the remainder of Vail’s lifts and terrain, including Blue Sky Basin in early December.
