Banff

The skiing in Banff is split over two areas - Ski Norquay, which lies 6km from the town, and Sunshine Village, 8km or 20 minutes drive away. Both of these resorts are connected by a frequent bus service. Lake Louise is 60km by road from Banff and also connected by a regular shuttle service.

Norquay/Sunshine Ski Area:

Resort elevation: 1,397 (4,940ft) (Banff town). Top elevation: Norquay: 2,133m (7,000ft); Sunshine: 2,730m (8,954ft).

Base elevation: Norquay: 1,630m (5,350ft); Sunshine: 1,660m (5,440ft).

Number of lifts: Norquay: 5; Sunshine: 12.

Number of runs: Norquay: 28; Sunshine: 107.

Average annual snowfall: Norquay: 3m (10ft); Sunshine: 10m (33ft).

The Sunshine Village and Norquay shuttle buses operate between the town of Banff and the resorts. There are pickup points convenient for all the hotels in Banff with times to suit early powder hounds or the more leisurely late skier. There are return trips back to Banff throughout the afternoon. Visitors holding a tri-area lift ticket get free use of the shuttle.

Lake Louise Ski Area:

Hours of Operation 9:00am - 4:00pm. Opening Dates: mid November to late April.

Vertical 991 meters (3250 feet). Base Elevation 1646 meters (5400 feet). Peak Elevation 2637 meters (8650 feet).

Acreage 4200 acres. Snowmaking 40% of designated runs (over 1700 acres).

Average Snowfall 454 cm (179 in).

Trails 139 runs + back bowls.

Terrain 25% Beginner, 45% Intermediate, 30% Advanced. Longest Run 8 kms (5 miles).

Cumulative Length of Runs Over 100 kms (62 miles).

There is a daily shuttle service available from Banff to Lake Louise. Visitors holding a tri-area lift ticket get free use of the shuttle. Approximately 45 minutes journey time.
